My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Akita fans, meet Corin!

Corin has spent the past 3-1/2 months living with a fabulous foster family in Queens, NY, learning how to be a member-of-the-family dog. Through their dedication to training and loving him, he has made an amazing transformation from aloof, outdoor guardian of the flocks to a house dog who will come up you and gently put his head in your lap, and ask for pats.

Now, he is an Akita mix, so "Aloof" will always be his middle name - but now when he goes for walks down the city streets, he understands that, at 120lbs, he is a noble presence that commands attention, and he will stand quietly and let his subjects come up to say hello and pat his silky coat.

Corin is good on the leash and enjoys his daily walks and playing with his foster 'mom' in his fenced in back yard. He is also happy to curl up on the floor next to you (or in his crate, or in front of a roaring fire) while you are binge watching Game of Thrones.

He is good with most people (including the vet), but needs to be an only dog, as he doesn't want to share his people's attention and love. He can be reactive when he meets other dogs, and will require a human companion who will continue with his socialization training.

He should also be in a cat-free home, as he thinks they are small woodland creatures made for chasing. He loves his toys and can while away hours happily playing with his favorite stuffie.

If you are looking for a lovable, large, goofy dog with a big heart to share your life with, and are willing to continue the amazing work his fosters have been doing, you must meet Corin. You will fall in love, I guarantee it, and he will be worth the time and effort you put into him.

Corin is adoptable throughout New England, MD, VA, WV, NJ. For more information, please email Jen.Lu@bigfluffydogs.com and fill out our online adoption application at www.bigfluffydogs.com.
