My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see adorable young puppies. Koda and Kyloh are the kind of puppies that snuggle in, love you up and then put their heads on your shoulder. They're so sweet and social with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless a puppy is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space or living in the shadows on a scary city street. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuers and fosters in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Koda and Kyloh from abuse and certain euthanasia. She could see that their temperaments were so sweet and their needs so great that she couldn't turn her back on these very special pups who have their whole life lying in front of them. Koda and Kyloh were immediately brought to be vetted, spayed/neutered, given the appropriate vaccinations, granted health certificates and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin their education as cherished house dogs.

When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of Tijuana. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their US counterparts. They all have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy to a Mexican mill or rich tourists. Virtually all of them have lived on the streets and survived by learning to be social. They love people because compassionate tourists were their means of survival. They can sit in any language and fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal.

This was the life waiting for Koda and Kyloh. From birth they cared for each other..the other pup's welfare always being first priority. We believe that it was this supportive and very loving relationship that got Koda and Kyloh through their challenges on the streets. It is for this reason that we'll only consider adopting these beautiful puppies out as a bonded pair. They're truly a case of two is easier than one..they entertain, play with and calm each other. Of course, first choice will always be a loving lap or a belly rub from their favorite person.

Koda (apricot Poodle female) and Kyloh (silver/black Schnauzer/Poodle male) are just about 8 months old and 15 lbs. This is such a perfect size to be able accompany their family just about anywhere and fit right in due to their great temperaments and very positive outlooks on life. While initially shy..these amazing puppies come around when they sense love and nurturing. Koda and Kyloh are already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. They were two of the extremely lucky young pups to master their socialization skills at a very early age and endear themselves to the US rescuers. There was no way this twosome was going to be left behind! We all have a clear picture of these very sweet and fun-loving pups in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes them for life.

We would like to see Koda and Kyloh in a home that includes them in family time and activities (and some lap-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take very smart puppies like Koda and Kyloh and molds them into great family members that can behave appropriately in any situation.

Koda and Kyloh would also be wonderful companions for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with truly adorable young pups. Koda and Kyloh would enjoy other gentle dogs to play with... they're so sweet and gentle as they put positive energy into enjoying the day with a friend.

Koda and Kyloh, as non-shedders, will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (an additional salmon oil supplement would be perfect) to keep their very beautiful coats healthy and matt-free.

Koda and Kyloh are being fostered in Boulder. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet, silly and very endearing puppies with the beautiful faces and dark, expressive eyes. If interested in these fun and entertaining best friends, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
