Meet Magellan, a four-year-young Scottish Fold mix (his mama was pure Scottish Fold!). Like the Portuguese explorer that set out with a fleet of ships to discover western sea routes, this boy is quite the explorer himself! Known to leap tall buildings to catch a Da Bird flying feather, he is a spirited, playful, loving boy.
A bit about Magellan…for starters, he has perfect litter box habits. He is very sweet, a little shy at first, but likes to be near you. While he isn’t a lap cat per se, he is very affectionate. He can be talkative, playful, and as mentioned, really likes to explore. His current foster often finds him right by her door when she comes home, ready to greet her like a dog. Makes coming home feel really cozy.
Magellan loves toys; feathers, cat dancers, a box with crunchy paper inside…he’ll bat around little mice that have been filled with catnip, and he’ll chase a laser pointer down the full length of a long hallway at a full run! That said, like most felines, he also adores a nap in the sun. His other favorite things include: being pet, receiving a good scratch behind the ears or under the chin, and looking out of windows (there may be unexplored territory out there after all!).
To show his affection Magellan will rub up against your legs, especially if you are in the kitchen. He’s known to give “nosey” kisses and purrs often. He may give a soft meow to ask for some lovin’ and presents his belly and purrs when he wants a belly rub.
Magellan’s silliest habit is that he practices yoga…really! He will also occasionally dip his paw in water and then lick his paw a few times (instead of just drinking from the glass or bowl). In other words, he washes his “hands”. Lol. If you are watching a nature show on TV, you may find him engrossed, even commenting on the critters.
You’ll win this boy over with fresh kitty grass. But really, all he needs to be happy is a fairly calm environment with one or two adults. He’d make a very good companion pet and would probably be OK with another cat and maybe an older child.
