My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The story of Janet and Tulip is becoming all too common in today's world. They were in a high-kill shelter due to a home that didn't love them enough. Their guardian had had them since they were babies and the only option appeared to be for the pair to be transferred to a high-kill shelter.

Janet is a beautiful (these photos don't come close to doing either of these amazing dogs justice) golden Brussels Griffon, possibly a mix, weighing only 7 lbs and about 18 to 24 months old. Tulip is a Brussels Griffon/Shih Tzu mix weighing 7 lbs and approximately 18 to 24 months old. These pups were recognized for their sweet personalities and just about perfect behavior. Our Houston rescuer was happy to rescue Janet and Tulip from certain euthanasia with plans to find a forever family where they would be properly cared for and truly loved. It turns out that the girls have great house skills with the kind of loving temperaments that would be perfect with retirees, adults, very gentle older children and other dogs...just perfect family companions!

Their socialization started immediately as they were introduced to their foster family... and they did great. The fact that was immediately obvious is that Janet and Tulip are bonded! Their relationship is very soothing to them when they're together....when not together, they were engaging and friendly (while initially a bit shy) but you could see them looking off just a bit for the other. We made the immediate decision that as a bonded pair, we need to honor the power of their relationship.

We're searching for a very loving and gentle family...it seems that retirees or a dog-crazy family who are home a great deal would be perfect for these two lovebugs. If given the time and opportunity...Janet and Tulip would be the most bonded and devoted duo anyone could imagine. They would be overjoyed with walks with their favorite people as they greet other walkers. Since they only weigh 7 lbs each, they're so portable, that you can scoop them up into the car for a fun adventure or they'd fit perfectly under a plane seat for a visit to a dog-loving friend or relative. You can always count on them to have great behavior!

Once Janet and Tulip find their forever family, these two will have their dreams come true. They can recall a time when love was plentiful and belly rubs were the order of the day....they return this sweetness a million times over. Janet and Tulip. They are truly a case of two is easier than one. They're always ready to cuddle with their favorite people..but when the challenges of life calls...Janet and Tulip are very capable of keeping each other busy and happy.

It is Janet and Tulip's love affair with life and all the hardships that they've suffered along the way that motivates us to put them through Heartworm treatments..their precious lives deserve to be saved! Both girls have tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save these very special dog's lives, The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We're thrilled to report that we've never lost a life in this process.

We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Janet and Tulip as they become Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for these special pups as they become healthily heartworm-free.

These beautiful girls are non-shedding or very lightly shedding pups. They will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep their coats cotton-soft, healthy and matt-free.

Janet and Tulip are being fostered in the Denver area. We're currently setting up Meet and Greets and accepting applications. If interested in this snuggly and sweet pair, and greatest lap dogs ever, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
