My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What would you do if a huge muscular kitty was beating you up every week? What would you do if your family just dumped you outside, even after you'd given them your kittenhood years and your love? What would you do if your family moved and just left you behind? No more food; no more fresh water; no more warmth from the cold nights. No more protection from the dangers outside. That was my life. I was living outside having to fight for my life and my food when I happened upon the home of a really nice lady who bring me food if I showed up to see her. I could see in her window and she had kitties inside. They all looked well-fed, happy, and they weren't scared. I spoke to her through the window and she smiled at me, but I was still outside. I really just wanted to snuggle up in her lap and enjoy feeling loved.

One day the lady happened to pick me up one day and take me in her car to this place. When I woke up I felt a little lighter in my trousers area. But, as long as she was good to me, I didn't mind. But, then another outdoor kitty found me and was constantly harassing me and beating me up. One day he really tore into me, beating me up really badly. I was scared and hurting and didn't know where to go. So I tried to find the lady again. When I found her, I ran up to her and prayed she would save me from being beat up. She did! She brought me indoors and even let me sit on her lap. I was so happy! All I wanted to do was stay in her lap all night long and make biscuits with my paws. I finally felt loved! But, I can't stay with my foster mom forever. I need a family and a home of my very own. Do you have a lap that needs warming? Do you have room for me in your life? I'm hoping you do, and I'm waiting....for YOU!

As one might expect, having to live outdoors and having been beat up on by other cats, Gary tested POSITIVE for FIV. This just means his family will need to take good care of him and keep him healthy. Cats with FIV can live long, healthy and fulfilling lives. They can easily be incorporated into families with FIV Negative cats. FIV is transferred through blood, so as long as substantial cat fights are avoided, there are no problems with integrating an FIV cat into the family. Many of our own fosters have both FIV positive and FIV negative kitties in their own families.

Gary is POSITIVE for FIV, but NEGATIVE for FeLV, up-to-date on shots, neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $90.00.

Planned PEThood hosts adoption events each weekend at several locations.
1) the John's Creek Petsmart (Corner of McGinnis Ferry Road and Peachtree Parkway in Suwanee)
2) the Mall of Georgia Petco (Buford Drive in Buford)
3) the Lawrenceville Petsmart (Lawrenceville Suwanee Road at HWY 120 in Lawrenceville).

If you would like to meet Gary, or know which adoption site he will be attending this week, please call his foster, Corliss at corlissrupp4@gmail.com or call (305) 747-6758.
