My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Charmed to meet you. Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Guido. I am the perfect little gentleman. My foster mother took me to get my teeth cleaned and since I give out a lot of kisses I can now be sure that they all smell nice. I have one mission in life, and I take that mission very seriously at all times, that mission is to spread love. That might be why my foster mother calls me a little Casanova. I’m a small five pound little man so I don’t take up a lot of space. At ten years young, I’ve had plenty of practice with my manners and with learning how best to spread love. I have never had an accident in my foster home and I get along with everyone I meet, human or canine. Have you noticed my big bulging eyes? These little guys bulge with love, maybe even love for you if you let them.

Nighttime is extra special, but I am tiny so I do need to use the doggie stairs to get into bed with my foster mom. I let her get settled first, because like I said, I’m a gentleman. Once my foster mom is all settled in bed I crawl under the covers and snuggle right up next to her. I don’t want her to forget how much love I have to give. I sleep there all night without a whimper or a problem, snuggled up underneath the covers right next to her.

During the day I loyally stay right by my foster mother’s side, although once in awhile I’ll choose to follow around her son, he is eight. I like him, too. I’m always with a person, laying at their feet, snuggled up next to them, or most often, in a lap.

I do have a bit of play in me as well. I love my stuffed soft toys. Sometimes they’re fun just to chew on, but I also love to play with my foster mother. When she takes me for walks I’m a nice gentleman and listen to her. Even in the car, I’m content to just ride along and get along with everyone. I don’t gobble my food or treats, I’m always very gentle and am careful not to make a mess. I don’t want to cause anyone any trouble, I just want to make everyone happy. That’s why I also come right away when I’m called.

I am missing a very small patch of fur on my side. My previous owner said that’s how I was when I came to her as a puppy. I don’t really remember how it got there but my foster mother says that it adds character. At some point in my life my pelvis was broken but thankfully, even though it didn’t heal back 100% perfect, it doesn’t give me any problems. I do take a daily medication for my heart murmur, but it’s just a tiny pill that my foster mother puts in a piece of a pill pocket for me. And the good news is that the doctors says I’m still healthy and have a whole lot of life left in me. I was sad that my previous owner couldn’t care for me anymore, but I’m so glad that she gave me to CRT where I’ve been able to get even more love and attention. In fact, the little boy that lives in my foster home with me told me that he is hoping that no one will want me because he wants me to stay forever with him. And, my foster grandfather who comes over to visit a lot told my foster mom that I am his favorite. I just feel so special to be able to love all of these new people.

Can I tell you a little secret? Just don’t let any other dogs know. Sometimes my foster mom will hold me like a baby and it is my most favorite thing in the whole world. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll get to lay in your arms like a little baby too, that is, if you think I’m sweet enough to make me yours forever and ever.
