My name is Marco-ADOPTION PENDING!

Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) Mix Dog for adoption in Boulder, Colorado - Marco-ADOPTION PENDING

I found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

I am already neutered, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. Marco is the kind of guy who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts his head on your shoulder. He's so sweet (while being initially just a bit shy) and truly kind with every possibility open to him. That's the case unless a dog like Marco is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuer in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Marco from abuse and certain euthanasia. She could see that his temperament was so sweet and his need so great that she couldn't turn her back on this very special pup. Marco was immediately brought to be vetted, given the appropriate vaccinations, spayed, granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin his education as a cherished house dog.

When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of Tijuana. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their US counterparts. They all have been used for opportunistic either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy to a Mexican mill or rich tourists. Virtually all of them have lived on the streets and survived by learning to be social. They love people because compassionate tourists were their means of survival. They can sit in any language and fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal.

This was the life waiting for Marco ...just 18 - 24 months old and 10 lbs. This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany his family just about anywhere and then fit perfectly onto a loving lap. Marco will always fit right in due to his great temperament. He is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. Marco was one of the extremely lucky very young dogs to show great promise in his socialization skills at a very early age. The US rescuers couldn't help but fall in love with Marco ! We all had a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving guy in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes him for life.

As Marco becomes comfortable in his home, he will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he will shine with his accomplishments.

We would like to see Marco in a home that includes him in family time and activities (and of course some lap or couch-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart guy like Marco and teaches them the skills to fit into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation.

Marco would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Marco would enjoy another gentle dog to play with...he's so sweet and gentle as he puts his positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend.

Marco was identified as a Maltese/Poodle mix by his Tijuana rescuer. This is difficult to determine with certainty, but we can see both adorable and engaging breeds in this very sweet dog.

Marco appears to be a non-shedding guy with that white teddy bear-like hair that frames his beautiful face perfectly. Marco will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep his hair healthy and cottony-soft.

Marco will be arriving on transport in Boulder in late June. Applications are currently being accepted for our very sweet pup with the dark, expressive eyes. If interested in this adorable ...and often very fun and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at and submit to or fax to 303-443-7730.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marco-ADOPTION PENDING, a Boulder Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) for sale in Boulder, or seeking a Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Boulder.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boulder already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boulder breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) breeders who help with Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boulder paves the way for another one to be saved.
