ROCKY!'s Story...
MEET ROCKY!

Don't let her stone cold name fool you, Rocky is actually female and a softy! Rocky was reported to be around 16 years old when she was brought to Philadelphia's animal control shelter after her beloved owner passed away, though because her teeth are in great condition for an older cat, we do believe that she is likely closer to 10-12 years old. Because she was so scared of the shelter environment and not handling the stress well, she was selected for euthanasia. Instead, a City of Elderly Love foster family stepped in to save her life! She's now available for adoption and hopes to land her dream retirement home.

Rocky may look like your regular run of the mill black and white tuxedo, but if you look closely, you'll actually see that she has a stunning light undercoat which gives her fur a more smokey appearance! She is currently in foster care with other cats and tolerates their shenanigans like a champ, though if they do try to pick on her or annoy her too much, she'll give them some hisses and swats to tell them to knock it off. We're not sure if she has lived with dogs in the past, but would likely need some time to adjust to them in her future home. She may act a little shy when meeting new people, but rest assured that her spunky and adorable personality will shine in no time. Rocky is a bigger girl and is currently on a healthy, appropriate diet to help her drop some unnecessary pounds. She had to have some matting shaved off her back end when she came to the rescue due to being overweight, but her coat will grow back in no time. It also helps that Rocky loves attention and also loves to play with feather wands and other string-toys which help her move around! This big, beautiful girl has her bags packed and is ready to move on in with her future family!

Rocky is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She was already spayed and front-declawed prior to coming to the shelter. She is also vaccinated and will be microchipped prior to going to her forever home. She is also FIV & FeLV negative. Interested in meeting her? Why Adoption is a Great Option

ROCKY!, a Philadelphia Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
