My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gauge is a 2 year old, 91 pound Rottweiler. Gauge is good natured and eager to please. It’s clear nobody worked with Gauge as a young pup. He now knows how to sit and is working on stay. Gauge is learning to walk nicely by your side on a leash but isn’t there all the time yet. If he sees a squirrel or a bunny look out. Giant breeds like Rottweilers do not reach maturity until they are 3. Gauge has been without attention for a long time and just wants a human to love. He really likes car rides and being petted and talked to.
Gauge stared out his life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was purchased on Craig’s List and brought to a home with a female Rottweiler in heat and a male Pit Bull. The male Pit Bull attacked Gauge over the female in heat and he ran. He was picked up by animal control in Milwaukee and his new owner did not want him back. Milwaukee Animal control contacted the Wisconsin Rottweiler Rescue in Madison who took Gauge. Just when things were looking up for Gauge the founder of the Rottweiler Rescue passed away suddenly and Gauge suddenly found himself in need of rescue again. Gauge is now safe with us until he finds his forever home.
Gauge and his new family would greatly benefit from a basic obedience class. He needs someone committed to working with him and finishing his training. Gauge needs a fenced yard to safely run and play. His forever home should not have a cat or small dogs, Rottweilers usually think they are fun squeaky toys. He’d like any children in his home to be over 12 so he doesn’t knock them over by accident.
Gauge is house trained and crate trained. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
