My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Good with Kids: Unknown but not reactive
Good with other dogs: Once he gets acquainted, he's great!
Good with cats: Once he gets acquainted, he's great!
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Good if not left for long periods of time in a crate
Walks Nicely on a leash: Great!
Knows Basic Commands: He knows all the basics!
Energy Level: Medium
Special Needs: Oscar has minor cataracts, a very minor luxating patella that he's already seen a specialists for and they would NOT suggest surgery, just continue being on a hip and joint supplement and one ear that is permanently cocked down from a burst abscess. This did not cause any permanent damage, just needs to be cleaned regularly.

Arrival Story: Waggin' Tails found Oscar at Detroit Animal Care and Control. After meeting and playing with this young old guy, we knew we had to give him a second chance! Unfortunately, Oscar was pretty sick and underweight upon arrival, but after almost 3 months in his foster home receiving lots of care and love, we're thrilled to report he's a healthy, happy and ready for his forever home!

Approximate Age/Weight: 7-9 years / 25 lbs.

Personality: Oscar is a silly, playful and sassy (typical Boston!) bundle of brindle. He loves toys, peanut butter kongs and bully sticks! He loves longs walks, a good game of tug a war and a snuggle. Oscar is a really sweet dog that just wants to please.

Oscar really enjoys time with people (new people included!), makes great eye contact and checks in with his handler on walks. He is a leaner, and will curl into you for some pets. In his current foster home with two other dogs and cats he is not food or toy aggressive. He is bit sassy and will bark to get your attention if he feels you aren't spreadin' the love. He is good on car rides (needs to be secured or he’ll be trying to drive) and at the vet’s office. He is a great sleeper too, right at the bottom of the bed on his own dog bed, be ready for some snoring! Oscar is very treat motivated and still wants to learn.

Forever Home: Oscar would do well in many situations. He would do well as an only dog or with a companion. We would like to see him go to home where you are home more of the day than not and we think Oscar would do best in a home without young children.
