My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Layla, at only 9 weeks old and a petite 3.2 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 12 - 15 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began.

Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Layla just in the nick of time. Layla is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her vetting and temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. She's also incredibly beautiful (we think she looks like a little lamb)...with a gorgeous coat that will be silky-shiny and the purest of whites with tans and golds running through it. Once Layla is receiving great nutrition and baths consistently, there's no doubt she'll be the most beautiful puppy around.

Layla is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and willing...very typical of the cooperation and joy that a sweet Terrier brings to a family.. Layla (once she feels secure) is a very silly and entertaining girl...her Texas foster mom has said that they have no need for television since Layla came to their house. She's so fun to watch!

Since Layla is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs, cats and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Layla finding her forever home with a retired couple or family with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Layla enjoys gentle children as well...we would prefer to place her in a home with a bit older, dog-crazy kids that can spend time loving Layla up as well as participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.

Layla will be up to date on her vaccinations, however her age may prevent her from being spayed in Texas. If she isn't fixed, Farfel's will be happy to pay for Layla's spaying and microchip upon her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. This will be in line with our commitment to adopt out healthy and fully-vetted puppies.

Layla is a stunning combination of two well-loved Terrier breeds. At this point, she doesn't appear to shed but due to her young age, we don't feel we can guarantee her suitability for an individual with severe allergy challenges.

Layla will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 11/11/16. If interested in this sweet and engaging puppy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
