My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You know that we all have our favorites...maybe it's the pup that snuggles a bit closer (once he's bonded) and wags his entire body when he sees you.. simply because he wants to share how much love he feels. These descriptions would be Fineus. His Texas rescuers were set on saving this sweet boy's life. Fineus got caught in an extremely overcrowded shelter system that doesn't have the time or personnel to deal with the little guy in the dark cage... wagging his tail so hopefully.

Fineus's great temperament (active and engaging) and his sweet eyes that were so pleading..and very wise.. were his ticket to a new life. He was vetted and brought to a Texas foster home to get the attention he always deserved and to work on his house skills. Fineus was ready to for his trip to Colorado - a bit wiser and so excited about new possibilities

We feel that Fineus may have been treated unkindly during his short life...he's a bit shy at first...but bounces back so quickly when he feels wanted and cared about. Fineus never hesitates to put his best self forward...that includes an engaging personality, enthusiasm and snuggly hugs for his favorite people and canine friends

We can't forget that Fineus, at approximately 12 lbs and 18 to 24 months old is still learning...he's a blank slate just waiting to be taught. Being a young guy still, Fineus is open to new ideas with new ways of approaching challenges...and he shines with his successes. Fineus would benefit from positive reinforcement group training classes (all dogs do!) so he can be given clear guidelines and fun socialization. It would also cement the relationship with his family so Fineus will understand that he is loved, accepted and a very important family member.

Fineus would be a great take-along pup for retirees who desire the loving and cuddly presence of a furry guy. He would also enjoy a younger family...with dog-crazy children who think that a little fluffy guy is the greatest pal. They would need to provide him with the exercise and mental stimulation that every well-adjusted young dog should have.

Fineus will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Fineus's neuter and microchip immediately after his arrival if our Denver vet is used.

Fineus appears to be a non-shedding or lightly shedding guy. When he arrived at the shelter, his hair was very long...and very matted, making it difficult for poor Fineus to run, play and be a happy young dog. His compassionate Kansas rescuer shaved Fineus to the skin knowing that a beautiful and cottony-soft coat would grow in. Phineus will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and matt-free.

Fineus will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 11/4/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
