My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. Dixie is the kind of pup who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her tiny head on your shoulder. She's so new and fresh with every possibility open to her. That's the case unless a puppy is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuers in saving Dixie ...she could see that her temperament was so sweet and lovable that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized.

Dixie was immediately brought to be vetted and then brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Dixie, at just 8 weeks old and 3 lbs is already so smart and engaging that her foster could see that she'll be a great family companion. Dixie is expected to be approximately 30 lbs when full-grown (perfect hiking size!).

Dixie is such a great spirit that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. Dixie is cute as a button and so silly. She is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If Dixie continues her foster mom's regimen of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Dixie will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion.

Dixie is a gorgeous Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix puppy with the most beautiful markings ever and a cottony-soft coat that speaks of good health. Dixie's sometimes calm and often silly demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be more entertaining than your average puppy. If she is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, Dixie will become a well-adjusted girl who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly girl. We also feel it's very important that she is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with walks along Colorado paths enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home or chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Dixie can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere.

Dixie may be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to her very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to her spay, microchip and any additional puppy shots she might require.

Dixie's teddy bear coat will require a commitment to periodic sudsy baths. Serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy, matt-free and silky-soft.

Dixie will be arriving on transport in Boulder in late November. If interested in this beautiful and very sweet companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
