My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pepper could be that dream come true puppy for a family or active retirees who love spending their time with a fun and very sweet best friend. The Schnauzer/Terrier mix is often a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and very loving family dog.

Pepper's story is all too common in her extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore her sweet and engaging manner and desire to bond with anyone who is attentive to her? Pepper's kind nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. Her outgoing temperament leads her to ultimately become a friend with almost everyone she meets.

Pepper is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Schnauzer and Terrier breeds. She seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. At 7 months old and 25 lbs (perfect hiking size), Pepper is a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. Pepper's a perfect age to attend positive reinforcement group training classes to be the best adult dog she's capable of being.

We would love to see Pepper in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Pepper would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. She doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs.

Pepper will do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a hike through the mountains, a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Pepper's desire to be a part of a family.

Pepper appears to be a non-shedding girl and will therefore a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and cottony-soft. Pepper has had a bout with dermatitis due to fleas, dirty conditions and stress. Now that she's out of the shelter environment and with a nurturing foster, Pepper is receiving great nutrition and care for her skin and coat. Her silver hair is already starting to grow back. Pepper's shelter photo is awful..we'll update with an out of shelter photo of this beautiful girl as soon as we receive it.

Pepper will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 12/28/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
