Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This sweet guy's name is Floki and he's around 1yr old. We found him outside in the freezing weather near our home. We took him to check for a microchip and he didn't have one. We are fostering him and we love this guy, however, we are not allowed to have a dog in our apartment. We will include his crate, pager collar, and a harness.
Everything we have purchased was in order to make him easily adoptable. We have gotten him up to date on examinations, vaccinations, registration, microchip, and he is heartworm negative and we had him neutered.
This pup is very well behaved and smart. His skills are improving every day. He is crate trained, he is getting good on the leash, he uses the restroom regularly when on a schedule, and does not mark inside.
He also plays well with kids, dogs and loves to be around people.
It is our belief that he is deaf (apparently that is common in white dogs).
It took us almost two months to figure it out because he obeys verbal commands with eye contact.
He is currently being trained in ASL (sign language) which he is responding well to. It took me about a half hour to learn over ten of the basic dog commands.
He already knows : no, down, come here, sit, and stay (more likely to do these commands for treats). We have purchased what is called a pager collar. This collar sends a small vibration to the dog to let them know you are seeking their attention. It is said that ASL combined with the vibration collar is actually more productive than most verbal communication because it cuts through the distractions.
Please contact me if you or anyone you know is interested in him.
I would hate to have to take him to a shelter. He is a very loving pup and hopefully we can find him a forever home. Tell your friends!
