My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Attention all coffee drinkers. Do you need something sweet to enjoy with that cup of joe in your hand? I can help! My name is BISCOTTI. I am the happiest, bounciest, (might be the caffeine) fun loving girl. I can entertain myself with toys, especially if they squeak. I also appreciate my breaks and would love to curl up with you while you read a book or watch a favorite movie. My recipe is quite a mystery. Some think I look like a Scottish Terrier mix. Others think I have rough coated dachshund in me. One thing is for sure- I am pretty darn cute! I have a black, shiny wire haired coat with just a hint of cream in my face. I do seem to shed a little. I am a low rider with a long body and short stubby legs. I can balance on my back legs to beg for treats and I can sit pretty when I choose. I do jump when I get excited so it is a good thing that I only weigh 26 pounds. I may not be suitable for those who are not steady on their feet. Thank goodness, I am out of that destructive puppy stage! I am 4 years old so I know that I am supposed to go to the bathroom outside and not to chew on things that are not mine. I did have a little nervous leakage when the teenage boy in the house would go to pet me. We all know that teenagers can be scary, but I soon realized that he is okay in my book. I will even let him carry me like a baby now. The anxious urination has since ceased. I have been introduced to a slew of other dogs and I have always been friendly and instigated play. I was adopted and returned because I did not get along with the other dog in the house. My new foster home is surprised as I get along famously with the resident dog and the neighbor dog who likes to come visit. As with a lot of terriers, I don't trust myself with kitties. My current home doesn't have any cats, but my foster mom said I was way too interested in the felines at a recent adoption event. I have free reign of the house when a family member is home. I do spend time in a crate when they are at work or school. I will easily go into my crate with a yummy treat bribe. I used to sleep in a crate in the master bedroom and never made a peep. My good behavior has earned me freedom and I now sleep at the foot of the bed or in bed. I am working on walking nicely on a leash and I am a little crazy in the car. I like to jump from seat to seat to see all that is going on around me. My foster mom has threatened to put me in a crate for longer car rides.

I am a local girl. I was found as a stray and went to Kane County Animal Control when my owner was not found. When Kane County Animal Control had me spayed, their vet found 2 mammary tumors. One they were pretty sure was just a fatty tumor, the second was more suspicious, but it was never sent to the lab for testing. For fear of cancer, Kane County would not put me on the adoption floor. Rover Rescue was contacted and whew! they had an opening in a foster home. Believe me, I am way too full of life to lose mine prematurely! I was taken to a Rover Rescue vet where the vet spent a lot of time examining a very patient patient- me! I do have 3 tiny masses, smaller in size than a BB, that are too tiny to biopsy without doing evasive surgery. It was determined that I have been through a lot already lately and have just healed from my previous surgery. Since the C word cannot be confirmed, Rover Rescue is dropping my adoption fee to $100. My foster family is sure hoping that someone is willing to take a chance on a fun loving cookie like me. We all know that life is uncertain. I am up to date on all my vaccines and I have been microchipped. If you would like to find out more about me, BISCOTTI, please call my foster mom at 630-406-9405.
