My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zeke is a very lucky dog... he was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Texas because of his great temperament. His rescuer knew she could find him a great and loving home in Colorado...and that he would be a perfect fit for a special family.

Farfel's accepted Zeke into our rescue immediately. We're thrilled to change the sadness that has been Zeke's life...he deserves it just as much as every dog that has a great temperament.

This Schnauzer/Shih Tzu sweetie is just about 2.5 years old and weighs 18 lbs lbs of love and good-will (perfect size and age to accompany his family on long hikes and fun adventures). Zeke is just naturally an easygoing guy who is an equal opportunity lover! He's excited to meet kind humans of all ages as well as other dogs...Zeke loves to play and have fun with everyone.

Zee is such a pleasant guy to be out and about with - he's learning about the leash and getting a little better each day. It has been a stress-free experience to bring Zeke along on errands and a stop at a park. He's been great in the car (appears to be a non-vocal pup which is great!)... having a chew toy or frozen kong is great for keeping Zeke busy and engaged.

Zeke has had a calm disposition so far...no craziness for this guy. His initial experience with his Texas foster has given him self-confidence. He coming to understand that great behavior gets him hugs, kisses and treats!

Another way that Zeke derives his self-esteem are loving comments from his foster, Isn't he adorable or Cutest guy ever statements - Zeke can't help but feel great that people love him for not only his adorable looks (and the cutest scruffy face ever)... but also for his kind smile and very positive attitude.

We picture Zeke in an active retiree's home where he can be a primary companion to his dog-mom or dad. He would also blossom in a younger family (that's home a lot of the time) with very gentle older kids. It would be great if these kids could be part of positive reinforcement group training classes. These classes will create a very strong bond between Zeke and his family while making him a well-behaved guy capable of accompanying his family virtually anywhere a sweet dog is welcome.

Zeke also loves long walks and time spent outside. He would enjoy the company of a gentle canine playmate..they could play in the yard and then lie in the sun together enjoying each other's company. For Zeke, It's all about spending quality time with his people and doggy friends..

Zeke appears to be a non-shedder and will therefore requires a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free.

Zeke won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Texas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Zeke's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used.

Zeke will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 3/4/17..or thereabouts. If interested in this very sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
