Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It got scarily close to Julius's euthanasia time in a dismal Kansas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Kansas rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guys with great temperaments!), Julius was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer and shelter workers haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. There was some indecision about Julius's breed mix...the vet ultimately decided a mix of Spaniels with some Cavalier in there for good measure. We're not entirely sure...all we know is that Julius is wonderful, very smart and would be a great addition to any family who loves the fun and silliness of a silky Spaniel.
Julius, at about about 18 - 24 months old and 17 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born walker/hiker (still learning about the leash but getting better by the moment) with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path.
We envision Julius with an active, involved family with older, respectful kids.. or active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy. Julius would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with other playful canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Julius than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats.
Julius can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a happy guy (his smile in his photo will speak to that) whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Julius would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people.
After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Julius spent time in a foster home in Kansas being reminded of his basic house skills. He has been described as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They also said that Julius's tail never stops wagging (once he's comfortable) in his joy at his second chance in life.
We're requested that Julius be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Julius's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
Julius is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing…. he will emerge with an amazing lustrous coat that over time will speak of cottony scruffiness and good health. Julius will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep this lovely coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free.
Julius is arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 3/7/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this adorable pup. An application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
