There are times when one wonders what happened to their life. Like me, for instance. How do I go to being a cute adorable pup with a forever home to a kill shelter with a URI and heart-worms just a few years later? How do I end up all alone in a cell of concrete surrounded by dogs howling..begging for someone to come save them and wondering the same thing as me...why are they there?
My name is Levi and I am a 1.5-2 year old male Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix. I was abandoned by my owners and ended up in a high kill shelter. I spent weeks there and no one ever came for me. Despite my beautiful looks, I was overlooked and I cannot really blame them. Who would want a dirty, skinny, heart-worm positive dog with an upper respiratory infection. I was to the point of giving up, I began to get timid and didn't even bother trying to get someone to fall in love with me. Yet, someone did fall in love me...I never met them but they saw my photo and knew they had to help. Within a few hours, I was out of the shelter and on my way to a new start. I remember when I saw my foster through the window of a car, I had my ears up and its like I somehow knew this was it...I was SAFE! When I got to my new home I was besides myself, I got to come inside and meet some other dogs. I LOVED it, I was licking their snouts and wagging my tail. I met the cats and I am scared of the ones who hiss at me and go the other way. Within a few hours I was already playing with toys and lying on the dog bed.
Although I may be happy and safe I still have a long ways to go. I am being treated for my URI and will soon begin my heart-worm treatment. The cost will be around $600 and I am really hoping you will help me with that. I know the rescue will take care of me but they are already doing so much for me..heck they SAVED my life so I would love to give back.
