Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Kansas rescuers in saving Lucca. She could see that his temperament was so sweet and engaging that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized.
Lucca is such a sweet and endearing spirit who cuddles against you for love and security..but wait just a minute for puppy energy..so much fun . Lucca was immediately brought to be vetted and then to to the home of his rescuer to receive pure love and begin his education.
Lucca is just 10 weeks old and weighs 9 lbs (expected to be approximately 45 - 55 lbs when full-grown.) He is calm and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuers. Lucca is very cute and so silly with a mind of his own. His rescuers have said that they haven't turned on the TV since Lucca came to the shelter...he's so entertaining. He's also like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Lucca continues this regiment of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...he will become a well-adjusted and well-behaved adult companion.
Lucca has been identified by the shelter vets as a beautiful and sweet Bernese/Border Collie mix puppy. Lucca has the cutest antics ever!. His puppyish and silly demeanor is just who he is. Lucca just appears to be more entertaining than your average puppy. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly puppy.
We feel strongly that Lucca should attend puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. We'll need a commitment from Lucca's adopters that they'll give Lucca the behavioral guidance that these classes provide. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved trainers in different areas of Colorado.
We also feel it's very important that Lucca is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with a future of walking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family that spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Lucca can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. Lucca can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere.
Lucca won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kanas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Lucca's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used.
Lucca will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 3/14/17. If interested in this very sweet puppy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
