Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Stefano" is an adorable 2-year old male kitty who arrived at the HSOV on February 6, 2017 along with several of his companions who shared his previous home. Their mistress had passed away in December 2016 and they had nowhere to go or anyone else to care for them :(
"Stefano" quickly stole the hearts of our kennel techs and also our shelter manager. This handsome little guy appeared to be blind in both eyes when he entered our shelter and was living in a world without sight. He was very lonely and wanted to be near someone constantly for reassurance. Our shelter manager asked that we make a plea for a special home for "Stefano" or a rescue group who could help us find the perfect home for him. "Stefano" cries/meows loudly when he walks around but becomes quiet when he is able to lean upon someone (or to simply be near them).
"Stefano" has a white-and-gray short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and a cute face which is symmetrically marked. He has a tiny pink nose and extra-long white whiskers. "Stefano" has a large gray HEART on his right side which is an indication of his sweet temperament.
"Stefano" has been examined by local veterinarians and has responded to medications (antibiotics for ear infections and eye drops for both eyes). His eye pressures are within normal ranges. His left eye looks fairly normal now and he appears to have some vision in that eye. But he is blind in his right eye :(
"Stefano" walks normally and scampers around like any other kitty. He does have a head tilt (to the right) .. which could be a result of the severe ear infection or perhaps he is compensating since he has sight in his left eye? He is very intuitive and not easily fooled :) Our photographer was having difficulty taking pictures of Stefano because he kept wanting to run toward her and run against her for attention, so she decided to sit on the countertop for aerial photos .. Let's just say that he quickly learned to look up or tried to join her on the couuntertop and be thankful there were no surveillance cameras in the studio!
"Stefano" was given vaccinations, wormer, and Revolution flea treatment on February 6, 2017. He weighed just 5 lbs. on that date. "Stefano" was neutered on March 29, 2017 and was also given rabies vaccine. We were pleased to see that he tipped the scales at 7.2 lbs :) And his coat is looking healthy and beautiful these days as well.
"Stefano" was combo tested on February 21, 2017 and is negative for feline leukemia and FIV.
Please contact HSOV Shelter Manager (Misty Carpenter) via emal (manager@hsov.org) or by calling 740.373.5959 if you would like to help Stefano. Rescue groups may contact our Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
