My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter.

Lulu, at only 15 weeks old and about 7 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 15 - 20 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Lulu just in time. This sweet and engaging Spaniel/Terrier mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

Lulu is also very beautiful..with the cutest scruffy Terrier coat that is Spaniel soft and shiny. Her shelter photo in no way shows Lulu's irresistible little face with the wide-eyed wonder of a puppy.

Lulu is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of her mix. Lulu is also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Lulu is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Lulu will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of trainers in your area. Training does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Lulu finding her forever home with very active retirees with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Lulu is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older dog-crazy kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.

Lulu will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico however a very young puppy like Lulu is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Lulu to be spayed at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Lulu will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/22/17. If interested in this adorable.. and sweet and fun best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
