Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ADOPTION PENDING!!! The very first thing that Sawyer the beautiful Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix (these photos definitely don't do this guy justice...he's so cute!) wants to make clear is that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. Then before you know it, Sawyer is at your side. He's so happy there because his human relationships are so important to him.
This 18 - 24 month old, 42 lb guy truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. Sawyer is such a people dog. He enjoys humans of every age group ...but we are searching for an adult or older, dog-crazy children family for this very sweet pup. Sawyer can initially become overwhelmed by chaos...therefore a family with very young children living in the home will not be considered.
We also envision Sawyer with a very active retired couple or individual who want a kind and adorable guy in their lives. He would be overjoyed with time spent...hiking, exploring and then flopping down on the couch together at day's end would be right down Sawyer's alley.
Sawyer would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people. He could be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace after an opportunity to attend group obedience classes. Farfel's is very happy to provide names of approved positive reinforcement trainers in your area. These classes teach both the dog and family how to use new behavioral skills..and therefore develop a strong bond and great behavior out in the world.
Sawyer can initially have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned.
We've requested that Sawyer be neutered/microchipped prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Sawyer's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
Sawyer will be arriving on transport in Dever on Saturday 5/6/17. If interested in this sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
