My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blue: 3 yr old male, Blue, Silver-Spotted Ocicat
Blue and his brother, the tawny ocicat, Toulouse, must be adopted together; bonded pair

Here is Blue. He is the second of the three Ocicat males. Lucien has already gone home. The third Ocicat brother is a Tawny, Spotted Ocicat, and he is going to go home with his brother Blue. These two boys are bonded and need to stay together. Lucien went home to companion a Bengal boy and they are already friends. Ocicats generally need the companionship of other cats to be really happy. They are very social animals, both with cats and humans.

An Ocicat breeder had age and health problems and needed help as she approached the end of her life. In December, Purebreds took into foster her four adult cats. Three were males as mentioned above and the last was a female. These kitties arrived really quite stressed out. The last months of their life in their home had probably not gone well. Lucien was the most mellow, which is why he was ready to go home already. Blue and his brother have neded more time to settle in but they are coming along. He is still shy but he is unfolding fairly quickly now. He is out in the sun and interested in having his photo taken.

Blue is a big, beautiful cat. Ocicats with their spotted coats are bred to resemble cats in the wild, especially the spotted Ocelots. They do not, however, have any wild cat blood in them as Bengals do. They are simply beautiful domestic cats bred from Abyssinian and Siamese and American Shorthairs to resemble wild cats. Blue is a blue, silver-spotted Ocicat because his spots are just a little softer dark color than the black Ebony Spotted.

These kitties tend to be very devoted to their owners. Doglike, they will follow you around. Many are leash trained. These are fairly large cats, muscular and athletic and very playful. They are very active and mischievous. They do NOT do well alone and need another cat companion or dog to keep them company. Blue will be adopted with his brother, a tawny, spotted Ocicat. (I will get Tawny's bio done asap.) He is also a very beautiful boy. It is great fun to watch these two boys play and sleep together.

The adopter of these two will need to be a confident and patient person willing to let these boys finish growing into their social Ocicat heritage. They are coming out of a sad situation and need an understanding adopter who will be happy to watch them unfold. For the first month with us, they both hid most of the time we were around Now, they are out and interested in the exciting and entertaining things humans do. They are coming right along and will be a great delight to their new family.

Blue eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
