My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our sweet and beautiful Chai couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Chai is a 3 month old Border Collie (one vet suggested that there may be a bit of Australian Shepherd in there as well) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Herding breeds have grown in popularity tremendously over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, superior intelligence and loyalty to their family. Farfel's rescues many herding dogs in need of our help
with confidence they will have sweet personalities and be loving family members. Chai has all these wonderful traits and was described by her rescuer as a fluffy and just wonderful puppy.

Chai has had a challenging start but is now safe and sound…never to be cold or hungry again. With it all…Chai doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since she is so young, Chai is a blank slate…open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Puppy kindergarten classes followed by positive reinforcement group training class will truly serve both Chai and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Chai be a companion that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between puppy and family. Farfel's is happy to supply a list of force-free trainers in your area.

Chai is a happy-go-lucky puppy who loves life and responds so well to love and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Chai gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people's lap for belly rubs and soft touches.

Chai loves to come along (and is very portable at 8 lbs..anticipated to about 35 lbs when full-grown)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a hike on a Colorado trail, a vacation or just socializing…Chai would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance to fit in just about anywhere.

We envision Chai in a home that will provide her with exercise and stimulation. She wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone…she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Chai would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a puppy, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog.

We've requested that Chai be fixed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Chai's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Chai will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 6/10 (or 6/17/17). Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
