Here's what the humans have to say about me:
When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Emerson. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Emerson's rescuer knows it's morning when Emerson's little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a huge kiss of love.
This curious and really, really smart 7 month old, approximately 20 lb mix (anticipated to be full grown at about 28 - 32 lbs..such a great size - perfect for long walks and neighborhood socializing) and just right to take everywhere a sweet pup is welcome. Emerson is a truly great companion. There aren't many visible signs that she was in a very scary high-kill shelter. While she's initially a bit shy and can hold back in certain situations... a warm hug and reassuring words..and Em bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer.
We picture Emerson as a best friend to either active retirees or a younger family with older, dog-loving kids. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Emerson would be one of the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Emerson is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's never pushy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks or more challenging hikes to socialize with others..and mental stimulation that comes from her time with her humans is important to this sweet girl to keep her happy and well-behaved. it's not that she requires extensive amounts of anything, just enough to keep her healthy and stimulated.
Emerson would also enjoy time with very gentle and a bit older, dog-loving kids. She's such an easy-going pup..but we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Emerson derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog who deserves this in her life.
Terriers are the favorites of so many dog-loving people. They're super-smart and very social little beings. They are also known to be very loyal...their family is always the love of their life and they show you their loyalty each day in so many ways.
Emerson appears to be a non-shedder (or very light shedder)...although we'll know for sure once her sad shelter hair grows out. We'l see the beauty of Em's scruffy Terrier coat after the benefits of healthy food and clean conditions set in. Emerson will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her stunning cinnamon coat (that seems to have a mind of its own) healthy and matt-free.
Emerson is in foster care in the Denver area. If interested in this sweet and very loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
