Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Aspen were his gorgeous eyes in the dim shelter light. She stared at Aspen for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this beautiful Terrier mix... underneath the shelter matts and filth is a sweet and loving puppy whose greatest joy would be a family that loves him in a forever kind of way.
Aspen immediately made it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. Aspen was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in our rescuer's lap. He was a bit shy but was so happy for the hugs and sense of safety.
This 6 month old, 9 lb cutie-pie (anticipated to be about 12 lbs when full grown) truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. Aspen wants to be a people dog...with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love, he will be so filled with joy that he's finally found his forever family.
We are searching for either an adult-only home, active retirees or a home with very gentle, dog-crazy kids for this very kind pup. He's a young guy who is very friendly and loving toward all age groups.
We envision Aspen with fun-loving retirees who want an adorable young dog as a family member and companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people....he's engaging and mellow enough to spend some afternoon time snoozing on the couch or would be very excited to go for a long walk on mountain trails or neighborhood paths....just as long as he's with his people.
Aspen would also be a great office puppy in a dog-friendly workplace....he would be very friendly and respectful (as long as he can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer). He can have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great puppy past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned again.
Aspen won't be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Aspen's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used.
Aspen will be arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 8/18/17. If interested in this best friend who is so full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
