My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Olaf is a big, gentle, snugly sweet hunk of a 14-month-old, 70-pound tall male white Dogo Argentino/American Bulldog-mix with one blue eye and one brown eye looking for a loving guardian.

Olaf loves people and gets along just fine with most other dogs. He rides nicely in the car and walks beautifully on leash unless he sees a bunny or squirrel to chase.

Olaf landed at the Richland County Animal Shelter in Illinois shelter when his human could no longer take care of him. His original owner passed away and the guy’s son tried to keep him on his land. But, without a fence, Olaf kept straying under the neighbor’s barbed wire fence to play with and chase the cattle on the farm next door. He has a jagged scar on his right shoulder from the barbed wire. Their animal control officers dubbed him the sweetest dog to ever live and sent him to me in Chicago to find him a home preferably without cows to chase!

He is perfectly housebroken and instead of being crate-trained, he likes to hop onto the top of his crate to sleep. He is best with someone who is home more often than not that enjoys long walks. He doesn’t seem to know commands but he takes treats incredibly gently from your fingers.

It's interesting, for a country dog, he has no fear of trains, or any other loud noises ... and no, he's not deaf!

Olaf is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm and fecal-tested and on monthly heartworm preventative.

To meet and possibly adopt Olaf, please contact sheri@petraits.com for an adoption application. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits. He is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
