Jambalaya's Story...
Jambalaya is a beautiful and sweet, full-figured, six-year-old, female silver tabby cat. This mellow girl has golden green eyes, pink nose, and a lovely disposition. She can be met and adopted at the Petsmart store at 1101 South Canal Street in Chicago’s south loop. The Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control group is adopting out some of its cats at the Chicago Petsmart store. It’s a great way to meet and adopt cats because the store has longer hours than the shelter; it is open from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Mon-Sat, and Sun: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. You can even fill out an adoption application at the store. If you have questions about any of the cats please contact Kathleen at kbudrean@hotmail.com or 312-823-9930. All the cats at Petsmart are healthy, spayed, up to date on vaccines, de-wormed, micro-chipped and virus-tested. Their adoption fee of $65 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jambalaya, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
