My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Arrival story: Josie was picked up as a stray by a rural shelter. The shelter located the owner who decided he didn’t want to spend the money on a pull fee to get Josie back. To make matter worse, this shelter gives animals to a dealer to sell for use in research. Lucky for Josie that Waggin Tails stepped in to make sure she wouldn’t suffer in experiments or end up in another unloving home. Josie is now safe, fully vetted and ready for adoption!

Personality: Josie is chipper and friendly. She did wonderful at the vet’s office and won the hearts of vet staff and the kennel staff where she is currently boarding while awaiting a foster or forever home. Josie has been introduced to a few other dogs and she did fine with them. She didn’t seem very interested in the resident kennel cat, so we think she will be fine with cats. Josie keeps her kennel clean and is likely already housebroken, but we cannot be sure. We were told by the shelter staff that Josie knows some commands but we have not yet confirmed this.

Ideal Forever home: Josie has a sweet temperament and would fit into many situations. We are getting to know her and will update her profile soon.

Pre-Adoption Application: To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to wtdr2008@yahoo.com

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs, $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
