This handsome boy is Sundance, a 5 1/2 year old shepherd mix finds himself looking for a new home, again. Sundance originally came to us from West Virginia in 2009. He was adopted, and had a home for almost 4 years, but he was surrendered due to his owner having a change in work schedule. Sundance is a bit depressed to be back in the position of looking for a home, but he is still as sweet, loving and affectionate as ever. Sundance is a gentle boy that is so well behaved. He walks very well on a leash, sits when asked, and takes toys and treats very gently. He is a little shy upon meeting new people, but warms up very quickly when he sees he can trust you. Sundance looks for attention and will stop while he's out for a walk for a reassuring pet on the head. He just loves people, and even gets along well with other dogs and cats. Sundance is just an all-around great guy that is so deserving of a wonderful home. He would do well in just about any home with people that will love and care for him forever. 2/19/13 File#22289

The Associated Humane Societies, founded in 1906, is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey. We comprise three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls . Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park Zoo. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park Zoo is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
The Society is a not for profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, and Popcorn Park is also a federally licensed zoo. The Society prides itself on our devotion to the thousands of animals that we care for annually and the chance for a better life we offer them. Our animal shelter is open to the public Monday through Friday from 12pm to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm.
We require a completed adoption application which can be obtained at our facility, or from our website: www.ahscares.org. We also require proof of home ownership if you own, or a copy of a lease stating that pets are allowed with no restrictions if you rent. We require vet records for any pets owned in the last five years as well. Our adoption fees vary based on age, breed, etc. Please call our facility for exact fee 609-693-1900.
We are the primary Animal Control for Barnegat, Waretown, West Creek, Surf City. We take in animals in need from all of the country.
