Rescue FAQs

We are a 100% not-for-profit, volunteer-run society located in the Edmonton Capital Region. Heart Prints Dog Rescue Society is a foster home–based rescue — we do not operate a shelter. We work closely with several Alberta rescue groups to help small- and toy-breed dogs in need. When a dog requires help, we arrange transport to our foster network, where they receive care, stability, and love until a forever home is found. Our mission is to provide safety, compassion, and a second chance to dogs whose owners are no longer able to care for them.
🚫 No Out-of-Province or Out-of-Country Adoptions Please contact a rescue in your city, province, or state to find adoptable dogs in your area. 🏡 Our Adoption Area Includes: Edmonton, Leduc, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Devon, Beaumont, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, and Fort Saskatchewan. 🐾 Please Note: We do not offer onsite adoptions at our Meet & Greet events. These days are simply an opportunity to meet our dogs in care and learn more about our rescue and adoption process.

**Adoption Fees Update**

Due to recent increases in veterinary fees and a decline in donations, we regret to inform you that we have had to adjust our adoption fees. The new fees are as follows:

- Puppies (6 months - 8 years): $760.00
- Senior Dogs (8 years and up): $650.00

Please note that the adoption fee for bonded pairs remains the same, with no discounts available.

These adoption fees enable us to provide comprehensive veterinary care for our rescue animals, including:

- Spaying/Neutering
- Rabies Vaccination
- DHHP Vaccination

- Deworming
- Microchipping
- Dental Cleaning (and possible extractions)

To adopt from our rescue, we kindly request that you provide us with information about your home, family, any pets you currently have, and your yard. Additionally, we require a completed application, reference checks, and a home check. We also offer a lifetime return policy in case the adoption does not work out.

For further inquiries, please feel free to contact us via email.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
