Adopt

Joe Black Effort Inc.

We are a volunteer organization of people who are passionate about changing the lives of the animals in our county.
Our county has up until now just had a small "kill" pound. Our goal is to make Dekalb County, Tennessee a safe place for animals. We are also offering education to the public about the importance of spaying and neutering, as well as, housebreaking and basic training.

Rescue FAQs

Joe Black Effort is a rescue group serving Dekalb County,Tennessee. We rescue, rehibilitateand re-home stray, neglected, abused and animals left behind. We currently placeour animals in foster homes until adoption. Our plan is to open a "no kill" shelter for incoming animals, still utilize fosters, and an adoption center for new petowners. When we have Dekalb county under control, we will expand our efforts to the counties around us, one at a time.

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application, home inspection (if in the near area), if not our application is four pages long. We require an adoption contract, an agreement that the new adopters will care for their new pet for the remainder ofthe pets life or return the animal to Joe Black Effort.
We have an adoption fee of $100 for dogs and $75 for cats. Puppies too young to spay or neuter, we charge $150, with $50 refundable after spay or neuter. With kittens we charge an extra $50 as well.
