Webinar: How to boost dog adoptions

Our March live TailTalk webinar was Wednesday, March 12 starting at 11:00 am ET/8:00 am PT and the recording is now available! Watch Adopt a Pet and canine behavior expert Laurie Lawless of Shelter Behavior Integrations discuss practical strategies to identify individual personality traits in your dog populations to match them to compatible adopters. This learning model can help your organization enhance dog well-being, streamline adoptions, and boost staff and volunteer morale. Plus, discover how to showcase personality traits on Adopt a Pet to better match dogs to potential adopters.

New Feature: Pet editing volunteer access

Improving your pet listings on Adopt a Pet just got easier! With our new Volunteer & Foster Access feature, you can invite your volunteers, fosters, and staff to update pet profiles while keeping full control over account and pet listings. You can also review and approve (or reject) edits before they go live—or give trusted collaborators global editing access so your listings always reflect your organization’s standards.

Details on using this feature here.

Two ways to invite volunteers

Either click the invite button here to send an invite to their email address, or use your custom QR code to add to printed materials you display or hand out. Note: If you have multiple location accounts , be sure to switch into the location you want to invite them to edit pets on before you download the QR code or click the invite button. Repeat for each location.

Animal Welfare Conferences

This March, Adopt a Pet is headed to conferences in New England and Arkansas. Stop by our booth to connect with our team and pick up helpful resources to support your shelter or rescue's mission. And look for our workshop, Love at First Click, where you can learn effective strategies to engage adopters online. Conference details & registration here.

Smart Rehome at PetSmart

To make Rehome meet-and-greets easier, we teamed up with PetSmart Charities to offer a safe, welcoming space for rehomers and adopters to connect in public—and now, the program is available in 70 PetSmart stores across the U.S. Learn more here about the Rehome at PetSmart program and scan the list to see if it's available at a PetSmart store in your community.

Making a bigger impact together

Adopt a Pet and Zoetis have been partnering since 2023 to improve in-shelter access to veterinary care. Last year, our partnership helped us connect organizations like yours with product grants. Read some of the life-saving care stories here.

Certified Partner Program

Are you bronze, silver, or gold? Qualifying for an Adopt a Pet Certified Partner badge not only signifies your animal shelter or rescue organization's professionalism and dedication, it also enhances trust and credibility among potential adopters.  Get Your Badge here.
