My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET RUFFY!

This incredibly adorable little Pomeranian is named Ruffy! Ruffy was rescued from Philly's animal control shelter by City of Elderly Love back in 2015 and was recently returned by his adoptive family because they could no longer care for a pet. He's happily settled back into foster care where he has received appropriate vet care to feel his best again. He's once again looking for a forever home to match his awesomeness!

Ruffy is 12 years old and weighs a whopping 9 lbs. and has a stunning long-haired coat, though looks like an adorable little puppy after be receives his warm-weather haircut. Ruffy is currently in foster care with two other larger dogs though prefers to not have to share his space with them. He'll give them a grumble or a snap if he thinks they're being too intrusive. He loves attention, loves to cuddle and to meet new people, and tends to steal attention everywhere he goes! He may have an accident here and there while settling into his new home, but is mostly housebroken and is happy to spend time in his crate while you're away from the house. Ruffy lived with a small child in his last home and got along with them just fine.

Ruffy recently received a dental cleaning with a couple extractions to keep his mouth feeling good as he ages. He has something called "luxating patella" (floating knees) which is pretty common in small-breed dogs. Like most aging dogs, he'd do well on a daily joint supplement. Ruffy was returned to the rescue with an ear infection which he is currently being treated for. His future family should keep an eye on his ears to make sure it doesn't reoccur. His eyes are getting a bit cloudy due to age which may effect him more in low-light, but he otherwise gets along just fine. He's make a great addition to a family looking for a lower-key, snuggle fluff muffin.

Ruffy is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Interested in meeting him?
