My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This was his tale 5 years ago. He has now been returned by his adopter. While we do not agree with the adopter's reasons, we took our sweet boy back. The adopter feels he must be a single cat, that he is aggressive to other cats. We still continue to find him submissive, so do not know what to think. Nevertheless, he is has had his home of five years ripped away and is feeling it. If you have heart for a needy and loyal cat, please give this boy a chance.

Since he has been with us we see no aggression at all. He is friendly, sweet, and chatty. He enjoys cat trees, his food, and being your keyboarding assistant. He has made an excellent adjustment over just a few weeks. He seems happier.

His original story:

"Meet Moondoggie, a teen kitten with a very hard luck tale. This boy is special and will need a special and loving home - with at least one other kitty who will be accepting and kind. Moondoggie is submissive and just wants to be accepted by other cats. He was an intercept - which means someone was bringing an underage kitten to the shelter. In CA underage kittens must be out of the shelter before close of business or they will be euthanized. He came in with his sister, Gidget. They were 4 weeks old. Moondoggie was terrified. To complicate matters, they were diagnosed with ringworm, which made it difficult to show them the affection they needed. Gidget was not fearful but Moondoggie was. Gidget had one ringworm lesion, Moondoggie was covered in them. Gidget recovered and was adopted. Moondoggie's treatment dragged on and on. He is now about a year old, small for his age, and completely healed from ringworm - but he is very timid and fearful. He has bonded with his foster and trusts her completely. In new situations he is very fearful, so it will take time and a structured introduction to a household for him to settle in. He is worth it though. He is very sweet with his foster. He likes to lay beside her and loves his back gently scratched. Moondoggie has stunning orange-gold eyes and sleek thick coal-black fur. He has stolen his foster's heart and will steal a patient adopter's also. He must be indoor-only. He would never survive out of doors. We are looking for a special person who can wait for his trust. For the right adopter, the adoption fee is negotiable. We do require an application, safety home check, and landlord approval if renting. Moondoggie has been neutered, is up to date on his shots, is microchipped and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. Contact us ONLY if you have a truly patient spirit and want to help one of the least likely to find a home. He is so sweet and loving, never rejects affections, and seeks it out."

He is healthy and has had recent vetting, including dental work. Just a little overweight which we see in cats who have been fed exclusively dry food. He is enjoying access to canned food in place of the dry. He needs a home with a cat pal who is not territorial.

More about this rescue

We rescue animals from high kill shelters or abandoned local strays and foster them until they find an adoptive home. Our southern branch also goes out on emergency rescue calls for cats in drain and sewer pipes, up trees, stuck in walls etc. Transport in available up and down the state of CA. We also TNR local stray and feral populations. The plight of homeless animals moves us deeply. It is unspeakably horrific to see gentle loving animals killed simply because they are homeless. While we cannot save them all, each one saved deserves it. We are a 501c3 registered, CA non-profit corporation.
