My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET FLOWER!

This funny, loving Toy Fox Terrier is Flower. She is about 17 years old and 5 pounds. Flower was adopted out of City of Elderly Love in Fall of 2018, but was recently returned due to her adopters no longer wanting to care for her. Flower is now looking for her forever, and is hoping someone is out there with the patience and love for her dynamic personality!

Flower is a special, little sassy sweetheart that will need anywhere from a couple of weeks to months to bond to her person or people. She will benefit from adopters who are small dog savvy. She tends to pick "her person" and that's who she likes to spend most of her time with and will sometimes nip if someone comes to close to who she perceives as her's. Flower likes to spend most of her time sleeping, but also loves to follow you everywhere. Her day consists of sleeping while her fosters are at work, followed by an excited greeting in the evening, and lots of snuggling to end the day. Flower loves treats, and this has been important in gaining her trust. Flowers adopters must be patient, and willing to wait for her love. Flower also needs some soft food in her diet, as she’s down to about two teeth.

On her first day in foster, Flower did not want to be touched or picked up to go outside. She now wants and allows handling, and while she can be very jumpy if she doesn’t see your hand coming, most of the time she sneaks out pets and demands cuddles. She greets her fosters with a wagging tail, jumps, and excited barks. Once you gain her trust, she is a total sweetheart! Flower is extremely smart, and learns very quickly. She is pee pad trained and will also go outside. She can take small flights of stairs. She loves spending time on the couch, watching tv, and sleeping. With some patience, she will be the perfect love bug!

Flower is perfect in the car, and will happily ride anywhere. Flower gets along well with cats and dogs, and either ignores them or cuddles them. Flower would do best in a low traffic home. When guests come over, she tends to bark for the majority of the time they are there. She has a distinctive screech that comes out sometimes when she is scared and you go to pick her up, or when she is crying to see you in the morning. She’s not a bark all day type of dog, but if you have a pack of dogs or a new person in the house, she will make her presence known.

Flower has received a recent veterinary checkup and has proven to be a very healthy 17 year old dog! She did need a dental cleaning with extractions so doesn’t have many teeth left, but those she did have were no good anyway. She’s feeling great and as sassy as ever!

Flower is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She is also heartworm and lymes disease negative Interested in adopting her?
