My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET PETER QUILL!

Looking for a dog who is always up for an adventure like a trip to the Jersey shore or walk to the coffee shop, but who is also happy to lay on the couch on Sunday morning? Meet Peter Quill! Pete was picked up as a stray and brought to Philly's animal control shelter, but managed to dance his way out of the shelter and into our hearts at City of Elderly Love!

According to his foster mom, you would never know this cool dude is estimated to be ten years old. He’s the perfect mix of playful and obedient. Pete loves being active by going on walks to meet neighbors but also appreciates the simpler moments in life, like a good nap on his favorite pillow (hint: it’s all of them). He is funny and clever and will do anything to get his paws on his favorite KONG toys. He especially loves when they’re filled with Honey Nut Cheerios and cream cheese! We're surprised that this handsome man hasn't caught the eye of his forever family yet, but when he does, they're going to be smitten!

Like most dogs, Pete thrives on routine and has been doing a great job learning rules and boundaries since being in foster. He just wants to be included in whatever you’re doing. Though he's already well on his way of being the best good boy. He isn't currently living with other dogs but has done well when meeting other large dogs. He prefers to keep it slow and isn't too appreciative of other pushy dogs but would likely do well in a home with another low-key, respectful buddy. He shows too much interest in cats and shouldn't live with them. Pete loves meeting children and would likely do well in a home with older kids. Pete is also housebroken!

Pete has been fully vetted by the rescue including having a mast cell tumor removed from his leg. They were able to completely remove the tumor with clean margins to eliminate the chances of recurrence. This healthy boy is ready to set sail to his new home!

Peter Quill is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Interested in adopting him?
