My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET GINGER!

This adorably wrinkly little lady is Ginger! Ginger is a 15 year old Pug who was brought to Philly's animal control shelter due to her previous owner's failing health. She didn't have to stay in the kennels long before she headed out to foster care with City of Elderly Love!

Ginger is without a doubt one of the sweetest dog we have ever met. She is 100% love! She has been living in an active home with dogs, cats and kids, so she would do well just about anywhere. She loves all dogs, big and small, old and young. She has also been a perfect playmate for the young kids in her foster home, where she's been known to participate in tea parties and dress up games. She also enjoys spending her time cuddling up with her people, taking leisurely walks, and snoozing in her cozy bed or a sunny spot in the yard. She also really enjoys treat and meal time!

For a 15 year old dog, Ginger is in great shape! She has received all routine care and has been treated for parasites. She does have a heart murmur which should be monitored as she ages but that doesn't require additional care at this moment. It wasn't confirmed with her previous owner if Ginger was spayed and our vet has not observed a spay scar, but at 15 with a heart murmur, its in her best interest not to undergo anesthesia to confirm that she is spayed. She has not shown any signs of estrus since coming to the rescue in August. Ginger will only be adopted to a family without unaltered dogs.

Ginger is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! She is vaccinated and microchipped. She is also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Interested in adopting her? Visit www.cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org.
