My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Candy and I have been at this shelter since last November. My older person decided she could not take care of both me and the doggy. I was chosen to be the one to come there to the shelter. I was raised from a kitten at my old home and only liked my one person. I did not care for any visitors that came to the house either. I am already set in my ways and I am very picky. I do not like to be picked up. I only allow the cat lady here to rub my head three times and no more. I will slap at her and grumble. I am not a cuddly bug and will have to be the one to decide if I want to sit on your lap or even maybe just stand in your lap. I just like to do my own thing. Here at the shelter my cage door is left open so I can come and go as I want. I like to walk around the office and get way up high on a shelf to watch all the action around here. I love to sit and look out the glass door at the big world. I ask to go outside but told NO it is not safe. My new home needs to be quiet and child free and dog free. I do not like dogs at all and will hiss, slap and scratch. Because I am such a picky girl the cat ladies here feel that a home with children would not be good at all. I am fast with the claw just ask one of the cat ladies. Even though It sounds like I am a hard cat to place I just know there is someone out there just looking for such a cat like me. I could live in a home and do what I want and if I want to come to you to be rubbed it will be my decision. If you think you would like to see me go to the shelter's new website and fill out an application. You will be given a date and time to come see me and fall in love with me and adopt me and take me home for our life together. I am Candy.

More about this shelter

Our orginzation was founded by Doug Bakko. Funds were raised to build the original shelter on land donated. The shelter has since been expanded using donations and fund raisers. We are the only Shelter in Cleburne County. Our operating funds come from our Thrift Shop, donations, fund raisers and some assistance from the city of Heber Springs, surrounding towns in Cleburne County. We work very hard keeping animals happy and healthy. We do this because we love animals and want to give them a safe haven and every chance possible to go to a loving home.
