My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi… I’m Goldie, I’m a sweet, sensitive girl who’s just looking for a quiet place to feel safe again. I came to the shelter because the big changes at home — especially a new baby — became very stressful for me. I was feeling overwhelmed, and I also have some dental/gum disease that my family wasn’t able to manage. The stress (and my sore mouth) have made it hard for me to keep up with my grooming, but with the right care and a calm environment, I know I can feel so much better. I would describe myself as friendly, shy, playful, and very affectionate once I trust you. I may be a little reserved at first, but give me time and I’ll show you just how loving I am. I don’t usually sit directly on laps, but I’ll happily sit beside you for pets. I enjoy attention (on my terms) and when I’ve had enough, I simply get up and walk away. No drama here! I’m not a big fan of being picked up, and I might meow if I’m unsure, especially during grooming, but I’ve never bitten or scratched anyone. I’ve lived peacefully with a 12-year-old male Himalayan and we got along beautifully, we slept near each other, groomed one another, and played together. I’ve also met other cats and was very curious and friendly. I think I’d do well with another playful feline friend! Dogs? I’ve been around one briefly and chose to quietly keep my distance. Small children are a bit too much for me, I’m shy and fearful around them. I’m hoping for an adult-only home or one with older, respectful kids. I absolutely love to play, Feather toys are my favourite! When I’m not playing, I dream about curling up in bed beside my person. I used to love sleeping with my humans, and I would really cherish a home where I can cuddle up at night again. What I need most is someone patient and gentle — someone who understands shy cats, can help me with grooming, and will give me time to blossom. I crave love and attention, and in the right home, I’ll reward you with sweetness, companionship, and quiet devotion. If you have a calm home, maybe a friendly cat companion, and a cozy spot in your bed for me… I think we could be perfect together. I am a special paws adoption, which means I do have medical needs that need tending to. My adopter will be required to have a consult with the vet here regarding my dental and because my bloodwork shows signs on early kidney disease. But because of this, my adoption fee is totally up to you ($30 admin fee still applies)!
