Hi, I’m Sunny! My story started out on the streets as a stray, and coming into the shelter was a little overwhelming for me. I was pretty scared at first, new place, new sounds, new faces. But with the patience and kindness of the volunteers, I’ve started to realize that people can be pretty wonderful. Once I feel safe, my true personality shines. I’m a very sweet, loving girl who adores head pets — give me some gentle scratches and I’ll melt right into your hand. I’m also a social eater, which means I feel most comfortable munching away when my people are nearby. It’s my way of saying, “Stay with me, I like you.” I’m affectionate, enjoy attention, and never say no to a tasty treat. I truly want to connect — I just need a family who understands that I may take a little time to fully settle in. If you’re willing to go slow with me and let me build my confidence at my own pace, I promise the outcome will be so rewarding. With a little patience and a lot of love, I’ll be the brightest part of your day.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City. This is only a portion of the work done by our organization. In 2016 almost 12,000 animal came through the doors of our shelter and spay/neuter clinic. We can’t help them without your support.
