My story

Hi, my name is Dolce and you can just look at my pretty little face and tell that I am sweet. I am a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix, 11 lbs and my foster mama says I am VERY sweet and a very good girl. I am calm and quiet and I am nice to everybody. Humans young and old, Dogs big or small, and even a kitty cat doesn't pique my interest. I am housebroken and I know what a leash is, but could use some practice walking pretty. I am shy when we first meet and could use a little time to blossom and shine, but I am all about love and my heart is open and ready for a new chapter and a new family. I was picked up by animal control in San Antonio and dropped off at the doggy jail. While there I learned that I had an easily preventable condition that involves a couple of months of treatment and crate rest. Fortunately, 4 Little Paws Rescue brought me home and my foster mama took loving care of me. I am finally ready to get my life on track, say thank you and farewell, (I’m polite like that), and move to Connecticut where I will find a forever family that loves me like crazy! A built-in doggy playmate would be ideal for me and make a smoother transition too. And probably a bag of doggy treats. I mean, who doesn't like doggy treats?!

* We receive an overwhelming amount of applications. If we do not respond, it does not mean your application is denied. We simply cannot reply to everyone immediately. Please send us an email and let us know if there are other dogs you see in our rescue's care that you are interested in. Also, please continue watching our listings as we post new dogs multiple times a week. There is no need to fill out another application, just let us know what other dogs you are interested in as they come up. We will do our best to find you a pup to complete your family!

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
