My story

BUBBA GUMP is in a SLUMP because his owner dumped him at the city shelter! How awful for this poor 9 year old 78 lb gentle giant who has so many things in the plus column!
Bubba who lived in an apt bldg in the Bronx, is said to walk *wonderfully* on leash (slack leash, no pulling), calm and gentle (even allows a child to walk him), is not bothered by other dogs passing him and is said to have even played nicely with a social female pup. Being in a busy part of the Bronx, he passed tons of dogs each day with zero issues at all.
While he has some resource guarding with food, he can be firmly and authoritatively told to “go on the couch” and he will walk away from it, so it can be picked up. But on the plus side is super sweet and affectionate, including with kids.
Bubba is well-behaved in the home, never crated and housebroken. To meet this really sweet boy and give him a chance of getting out of the shelter, please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414. We would love to set up a meet and greet for you. And thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Why adoption is a great option

BUBBA GUMP, a New York Mixed Breed (Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mixed Breed (Medium) for sale in New York, or seeking a Mixed Breed (Medium) dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mixed Breed (Medium) breeders who help with Mixed Breed (Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
