Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Missy is a six-year-old, 37 pound, Mini Goldendoodle who came to us from a breeder. Despite Missy’s life of, likely, not having much human socialization, the warmth inside a cozy home, or even time to explore and be curious about the world, her foster mom would say you might never know that because of how much she craves human attention.
It only took Missy about a day to realize what she has been missing from humans and she now wants to make sure her people are within sight. She follows her foster mom everywhere and even spent Thanksgiving cozying up to a bunch of new people (who all agree that she is the “goodest girl”).
Missy lives with a cat and has no issues with her at all. In fact, she takes direction from her feline housemate. She has met other dogs and has been fine sharing space with them all. When she sees or hears, the neighborhood dogs her tail goes up instantly and she trots to find out where they might be hiding. Missy is super smart, picks up on routine quickly, and is learning about toys and playing. She will chase after a toy (if she can take her attention off the human throwing it) and has started coming back with it too! She is working on the game “tug” and learning house manners when it comes to checking out what’s on the counters and the difference between a toy and a sock (wouldn’t you be curious about everything new and exciting too?).
Missy’s ideal home would be one with lots of durable toys and chewies to keep her mind occupied, a fenced-in yard to keep her safely at home, and people that can be with her most of the day. She would likely be okay with older kids that can respect her shyness and be patient as she continues to experience life outside a barn. She would benefit from a confident furry friend who can help her learn more about playing and being a family dog.
Missy came to us with matted fur, ear infections, and pink skin. We have treated her ear infections and she has had a cytopoint injection. We aren’t sure if this was an isolated occurrence for Missy or if she will need care for allergies in the future.
Missy is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm tested, microchipped, and is working on her housetraining with great progress.
