My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Truckee and I'm about 3 years old. I can play bashful, but don't let that fool you. I'm all about connecting one on one with my person.

I love taking walks on the farm and meeting the goats and chickens. I'm a smart boy and have strong opinions, but when I know you're the alpha I am respectful and obedient. I am very treat motivated. I know how to sit, wait, lay and am great on a leash. I'm dog friendly to boot!

I'm an outdoorsy guy and love to get sun and explore. I am not a barker and do a good job ignoring other barking dogs. I could do well with a dog friendly housemate, as well as being an only dog. I love water, tummy rubs, ear scratches and a little bit of land to spin circles on.😉😁

I'm a good boy and am hoping for a family of my very own.

Feel free to email howardshoundhaven@gmail.com with any questions.

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit rescue organization who helps rescue dogs and sometimes other animals from Contra Costa Animal Services as well as other local shelters; usually the scared, overlooked or often the ones off the euthanasia list. We also rescue dogs who have been injured or abandoned trying to keep them from having to go into the shelter after looking for an owner. We then place them in foster homes to decompress and learn to be part of a family as well as learn structure and boundaries. If needed and we can, we also have trainers that help prepare our dogs for adoption.
