My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Titan

Age: 3 years
Weight: 80 lb
Dogs: Yes
Cats: No; Including Chickens
Kids: Yes
Crate Trained : Yes
House Trained : In Training
Location: Warren, ME

Titan is for the most part an old soul in a young body. Once he gets comfortable with you, he is such a love bug! He is very focused on the environment around him with smelling and watching what is going on; he is extremely true to his nature as a Catahoula Leopard dog. But what makes him even better is that he loves people and loves to be with people. He loves to play, especially with squeaky balls. He would be fine being the only dog, but he would need a job and he would need to be with you a good portion of the day.

Titan has lived his whole life with this one family and unfortunately, due to life events that have nothing to do with him, he needs to be rehomed. This will be tough for him, so he will need a new family that understands the breed and knows this is not a ready-made dog; due to the pandemic he has missed some key socialization periods and has not seen as much as some dogs and the world is still scary to him!
Please know that if you do not have ANY Catahoula experience, ANY plans to further train him or plans to exercise him daily with a job that will work his brain and body – please do not apply.

If you are interested in adopting Titan, please click the link below: http://www.nehoularescue.com/adoption-application.html Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.

If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.

Titans adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.

Additional adoption info

We have a written application followed by a phone interview. If the applicant is approved past this point then we check 2 personal references as well as their vet reference. If they rent we speak with their landlord as well. If all is well at this point then we do a home check. The final step is a meet and greet where the adopter and the household, including dogs travel to meet the new adoptive dog. If all goes well they can adopt. There is an adoption contract and the adoption fee ranges between $200-400 depending on the fees that we put into the particular dog.

Go meet their pets

We support local "ma & pa" business before the big box chains since many of us come from some communities. We also attended fairs and "meet & greet" events.

More about this rescue

We are all volunteers that love and appreciate the breed. Our board members all have many years of breed knowledge and have all adopted or fostered rescued animals.
