My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Zane!

Energetic Playful Affectionate Extraordinary

Appearance: Zane is a magnificent Great Dane with a striking blue coat and a regal and captivating presence. His unique appearance is just one of the many qualities that make him extraordinary.

Manners and Training: Zane is the epitome of a well-behaved companion. He's housebroken and crate-trained, and his foster family has noted his impeccable behavior when left to free roam while they are away. Positive reinforcement is the key to his heart, and he thrives on praise, encouragement, and yummy treats too.

Socialness: Zane has a friendly nature. He gets along well with other dogs but prefers calm, submissive personalities. His forever home should not have dominant or hyper dogs. This guy deeply and unconditionally loves his people. He is also always ready to share love and affection.

Favorite Pastimes: Zane's zest for life extends to his love for car rides, toys, and winter weather. He embraces the opportunity to frolic and play in the snow.

Health and Well-Being: Zane is in excellent health, with no current health concerns. While he had his tail amputated in 2019, it has fully healed, and it doesn't hinder his happiness or quality of life.

Safety and Precautions: A physical fence is strongly recommended to provide a safe and secure environment for Zane. Due to his prey drive, it's essential that his forever home does not have any cats or other small animals.

Family Compatibility: If you have children, we recommend ages 10 and older who have previous experience with large dogs. Zane's gentle nature and size make him a wonderful companion for families seeking a loving and devoted addition.

If you're looking for a loyal and fun-loving partner who is as comfortable on a snowy adventure as he is on a car ride, please reach out to us. Zane is eager to embark on a new journey with a family that will appreciate his gentle, but energetic nature and big heart. Please complete one of the following steps to make Zane a part of your family.

1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Zane’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him.

2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process.

This handsome boy is currently located in Presque Isle, WI.

More about this rescue

Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue was started in 2008 by a group of Dane lovers who desire to help Danes in need. The rescue is made up of all volunteers who lovingly give of their time and money to help these wonderful dogs. Volunteers include people from every walk of life, all with one thing in common, love of Great Danes.

Each animal coming to the rescue is temperament tested, given a physical, vaccinated, wormed, checked for heartworm and tick borne illnesses and treated as needed. All dogs are sterilized before being re homed. The dog is then placed in a foster home to wait for someone to love it forever.
