My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Gryffin!

Energetic  Social  Loving  Smart

Personality: Gryffin has a playful nature and is a sociable pup who thrives in the company of canine friends of any size - currently plays with a Pug and Golden Retriever in his foster home. Whether it's romping around or simply hanging out with the family, he's always up for a good time. He happily greets new human friends as well! Gryffin has previous experience with children, around the age of 7, which has been reported as positive. He does not have experience with cats so slow and structured introductions will be necessary.

Likes: Gryffin is an affectionate and lively companion who adores attention, playtime, and outdoor adventures. He enjoys running and going on leisurely walks. Exploring the world is one of his favorite pastimes, and he radiates happiness while spending time outdoors. Gryffin also loves fetching balls but has yet to master releasing them back to you. He finds comfort in a well-structured daily routine and is at his best when he has a human companion at home more often than not.

Training: This exceptional dog has completed the Board and Train program at the Becket School of Canine Training. The focus of his training was to boost his confidence and reduce anxiety while crated, a journey he is still undertaking with dedication and resilience. Gryffin is working hard on continuing to reduce his anxiety in a crate while his foster family is out of the house. His forever home will need to be dedicated to his training to help him continue this progress. His adoption includes the invaluable benefit of lifetime support from his trainers, ensuring that he continues to thrive. Gryffin has excellent leash manners and does very well with commands such as sit, place, and come.

Fencing: While a physical fence would provide him with the freedom to play, Gryffin's impressive recall means it's not an absolute requirement. His well-trained instincts and love for adventure make him an ideal outdoor partner.

This handsome Great Dane is believed to be mixed with Belgian Malinois. If you're seeking a devoted and affectionate canine partner, complete one of the following steps to make Gryffin a part of your family.

1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Gryffin’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him.

More about this rescue

Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue was started in 2008 by a group of Dane lovers who desire to help Danes in need. The rescue is made up of all volunteers who lovingly give of their time and money to help these wonderful dogs. Volunteers include people from every walk of life, all with one thing in common, love of Great Danes.

Each animal coming to the rescue is temperament tested, given a physical, vaccinated, wormed, checked for heartworm and tick borne illnesses and treated as needed. All dogs are sterilized before being re homed. The dog is then placed in a foster home to wait for someone to love it forever.
