Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tux is a yorkshire terrier/schnauzer mix from what we were told by his owner. He will be 4 years old at the end of October. He was surrendered by his owners because they travel a lot for work and didn't think it was fair to Tux to board him all of the time. Tux is a very nice little dog. He is well mannered and seems to be well trained as well. He appears to be fully crate trained and is,most likely, housebroken, although we never guarantee that so please be prepared to provide any training that Tux may require once he is in your home. Tux is a gentle little dog so he should do well with kids (older kids would be preferable due to his small size), we think he would be fine with cats also, although he hasn't been around any with us as we have no cats. Most cats are probably bigger than he is and he is pretty laid back so we don't see him trying to go after them. Tux gets along with other dogs but can get snippy when they get in his face or space. We think he would probably prefer to be an only child. Since Tux came from a home where he had to be boarded often, we believe that Tux would want a home where he can be with his people most of the time. He seems to enjoy that companionship. Tux is leash trained and is not a squirmer when picked up. He rides well and doesn't try to dig or climb out an enclosed area/fenced area. He is pretty close to being perfect! He should fit well into most environments and transitioned quite well into rescue so he should have no trouble transitioning into your home either. A really nice boy overall.
Tux saw the vet on 8/16/23. It was noted on his exam that he is in need of a dental. This is quite common for small breed dogs as their teeth tend to rot and loosen much quicker than large breeds. This is not urgent but should be addressed down the road so he doesn't develop abcesses/infections or other problems later. He tested negative for heartworms and on his fecal also. In general, he is in good health. He weighed 9 pounds as of 8/16/23.
If interested in giving Tux his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Tux's adoption fee will be $300 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Tux based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
